Catamarans in angra dos Reis

Angra dos Reis boasts 365 islands and 2000 beaches full of legends, of natural beauty, and activity.

To get to know this part of the Green coast of Rio de Janeiro one can journey by boat, observing from the crystal-clear waters the various mansions constructed on the private islands by the rich and famous. Of all its islands, the most extraordinary is Ilha Grande. An adventurers’ paradise with many footpaths, waterfalls, and deserted beaches, the island is an important historical and cultural reference, as it was home to a prison during almost 60 years.

In the past, Angra dos Reis was one of the most important ports on the Rio coastline. Boats laden with materials arrived there from all corners of the world, also bringing slaves to bolster the workforce in the coffee plantations of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

At present, apart from its tourist interest, Angra is in the limelight due to the installation there of Brazils only two nuclear power plants, Angra 1 and Angra 2.

The climate is tropical (warm and wet), with temperatures between 20ºC and 30ºC. There is no dry period on the island. Water temperature varies between 18ºC and 24ºC. The best time for a visit is in the summer.
