Boats in Brazil
Brazil takes up almost the half of South America. It borders all the South American countries with the exception of Chile and Ecuador. On the east it is bathed by the South Atlantic Ocean. Its climate varies from the North, where it is never cold, to a more temperate climate in the South, and it is home to some great river basins. The country, the fifth biggest in the World, is divided into 27 states, politically. Its total area is 8,547,404 square kilometres, its maximum distance North- South being 4,345 km., and from East to West 4,330 km.
Most of its inhabitants live along the Atlantic coastline, especially in the great cities of San Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The capital, situated in the interior, is Brasilia. The country, once a Portuguese colony, is the world’s number one coffee producer, and has great mineral resources, the exploitation of which intensified during the 1980’s.
The most visited spot in Brazil is Rio de Janeiro. Known as the Marvellous City, it overlooks some beautiful countryside, and hosts the most important popular fiesta in the world: the Carnival. This event is also programmed in various other Brazilian cities, and is a great attraction for foreign visitors.
The wonderful beaches and the natural beauty of the country, which has a coastline of more than 6000 km., perfect for navigation, also seduce tourists. Brazil is privileged to be able to offer diverse recreational offers in this sector. Among the most-visited beaches are Ipanema and Copablanca in the Rio coastline area.
