Sail Yachts in British Virgin Islands
The British Virgin Islands are an overseas British territory in the Sir Francis Drake Channel, east of Puerto Rico, in the Caribbean Sea.
The British Virgin Islands consist of approximately 50 small Caribbean islands, around 15 of which are inhabited. The archipelago’s largest islands are Tortola, Virgen Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke.
Road Town is the only city on the islands, as a result of which it is their capital and its harbour is the most important. Road Town lies towards the southwest of Tortola, which, with a surface area of approximately 62 km², is the largest of the British Virgin Islands.
Most of the islands are mountainous. Anegada, on the other hand, is low-lying and is the most popular choice among scuba divers, snorkellers and fishermen, as its reefs are ideal for the sports in question.
The islands’ main products are fish, livestock fruit and vegetables. Tourism is also important to the local economy.
