Sail acht in Murter

Murter is the biggest island of the Šibenik archipelago, and is communicated to the mainland in Tisno. On Murter there are four towns: Murter, Tisno, Jezera and Betina.

The island has been inhabited since time immemorial, the first settlers being the Illyrians as one can see from the Illyrian settlement of “Colentum” near Betina.

Its situation, near the Kornati National Park, makes Murter an attraction for sailers who anchor in her bays. The beaches of sand and gravel such as Slanica and Kosirina are very beautiful. The island of Murter is the point of entry to the Kornati National Park and for this reason is often referred to as “the doorway to Kornati.”
