Boats in Bahamas

The Bahamas archipelago is formed by 24 inhabited islands, 600 more uninhabited, and more than 2000 rocky outcrops and reefs, spread in a bow from the coast of Florida to the north of the Channel of El Viento, which separates Cuba from La Española.
Although these islands are very fertile and favourable for agriculture, the primary resource is provided by tourism. Forestry is also practised, as is fishing, particularly for crustaceans, turtles and sponges

The Bahamas have a surface area of 13.939 km, and a population of 302.000 inhabitants. While tourism is mainly centred in Nassau (the country’s capital), there are other places worth visiting such as the reserve of the Abaco wild horses, Arauk Quay in Nassau, for sea-food lovers, Charlotte Fort, a historical site from 1780 on, with its canons, its pesdizos and its dungeons, and the 90 acre Lucayan National Park which boasts the largest underwater limestone in the world..

The Bahamas is the ideal spot for diving and deep-sea diving, for navigation and fishing, and for enjoying the beach and the sun. The best time to visit is during the warm, fresh summer, when the water is agreeably warm and one can spend hours in the sea. During the rainy season from May to September there is a faint risk of hurricanes.

The astronauts tell that the Bahamas have the most crystalline waters in the Caribbean.
