Lavrion is a city in the southeast of Attica, and one of the most easterly ports, at 60 kilometres from Athens. The port lies in a bay with a view over the island of Makronisos.

Lavrion enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate. In summer the days are long and the temperatures high; very often a refreshing breeze blows in at the end of the day, especially in the coastal zone and in the north of the country. During the summer the temperatures in Lavrion can reach 42ºC, whereas the winters are mild in the south and colder in the north. The rains come from November to March.
