Sail Yatch in Margarita Island

Lying 23 Km northeast of the Venezuelan coast, this island is the country’s largest, with a surface area of 934 square kilometres. It is elongated from east to west, and here measures 64 Km. From north to south it measures 32 km. Margarita is divided into two parts, united by a natural lagoon called “La Restinga”.
 
The island of Margarita is one of Venezuela’s most important tourist resorts. It boasts some splendid beaches with excellent surfing conditions, plus deep-sea diving, and other water sports, combined with a variety of colonial towns full of history. During the last few years many projects have sprung up designed to stimulate tourism, such as the Puerto de Cruceros, and the Puerto la Mar, among others. On the island one finds various former Spanish fortifications (castles, forts and fortresses), which are classed as National Heritage. The diverse and contrasting scenery is one of the island’s main charms. The rich vegetation between the mountains and the green valleys nearer the capital are a refreshing change after the dryness of the Macanao Peninsula.
In contrast to the rest of the country, rains are scarce and the sun shines the whole year long. Here we find certainly an unusual climate, where the trade winds mix harmoniously with the typical heat of the tropics. Hurricanes are unusual, thanks to the geographical situation, and for this reason, sailing in these waters is excellent.

THE YACHTS ARE ONLY CREW CHARTERED. One-way option is possible if chartered from Martinique or Grenada for yachts without crew.
