Cruising through Northern Europe in a sailing boat or yacht charter can be a real treat if you choose the right season, between June and August, and a destination as appealing as Finland, in the northwestern part of the Baltic Sea. The area is brimming with islands and islets (more than 100,000!) as well as elongated and narrow coves and bays that penetrate inland. However, this area is full of obstacles and reefs so if you're not an expert sailor, we recommend chartering a boat with skipper and/or crew. Charter routes usually start in Helsinki, on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, or in Turku, an ideal departure point if you want to explore the archipelago of the same name that is made up of more than 20,000 islands. The Aland Islands, located at the entrance of the Gulf of Botnia, are another appealing spot for seafarers. No matter which route you choose, you will discover beautiful isolated landscapes, old fishing towns, small charming docks and cities rich in heritage. This is the ideal mix for a perfect holiday.
