Our itinerary in the Costa Smeralda starts and ends in Portisco. This marina is situated in the city of Olbia where the island’s main airport is also located. Upon arrival, the marina staff will assist us with everything we need to access our berth and check in to our boat charter. On the first day on our way to Palau, we will cruise through Porto Cervo, unarguably the capital of the Costa Smeralda. This is a playground for multimillionaires and members of the international jet set who have their summer houses here or spend a few days in a luxurious hotel. The word “luxury” best describes this port as it is surrounded by superb restaurants, golf courses and shops from the most prestigious brand names. After eating, we will leave for Palau, an important destination for ferries coming from Corsica and islands in the Maddalena Archipelago. Frequent traffic has transformed this place into a modern and popular port. Upon arrival in Palau, you will notice how the wind has carved the rocks along a section of the coast, creating fanciful shapes. The Roccia dell’Orso is a popular rock which has the peculiar form of a bear.

On our second day aboard the sailing boat or gullet charter, we will wake up in Palau. After breakfast, we will head to the islands of the Maddalena Archipelago where according to locals we will find the most beautiful beaches and coves in Sardinia. An example of this is the world famous pink sand beach on Budelli Island in the northeastern part of the archipelago. If we are in the mood, we can explore another nearby island, Santa Maria, where we will find a beautiful beach, or the uninhabited island of Razzoli. The natural pristine landscapes of these three islands are the source of their charm and that’s why they are strictly protected as part of the Maddalena National Park.

From Italy to France. From Sardinia to Corsica. On our fifth day aboard the sailing boat or catamaran charter, we will cross the Straight of Bonifacio which separates the two islands. Our destination will be the natural port of Bonifacio, enclosed by a gully and surrounded by limestone cliffs. Its majestic beauty is crowned by the ancient citadel erected on the cliffs and surrounded by walls. Don’t miss out on the chance to go down the King Aragon Steps. Directly carved into the limestone, the 187 steps lead to the base of the cliffs.

After exploring Bonifacio aboard a gulet or a yacht, we will cruise back to Sardinia. Our next stop will be Santa Teresa de Gallura, one of the most northern points of the island. This small city of 5,000 inhabitants is known as “Little Turin”. In the surrounding areas, there are many beaches and inlets where it’s difficult, if not impossible, to resist going for a swim. Rena Bianca is the most visited beach in the town but there are others that are also worth discovering such as Rena Majore, Capo Testa, Santa Reparata, Valle dell'Erica, Valle della Luna and Vignola.

Do you like water sports and are itching for some action? Then Porto Pollo Beach is your paradise as it's internationally recognised for sports tourism, especially windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing, scuba diving, canoeing and mountain biking. The beauty of this place will seduce you with its characteristic white sand dunes that give way here and there to sections of granite cliffs.

Luxurious ambience, stunning natural beauty, silence, crystal clear waters…certainly your eyes have had their fill of beautiful sights this week aboard the boat and the last thing you want to do is disembark and go back to the routine of daily life. However, you still have a few more hours to enjoy your holiday aboard the boat charter. You will spend the night aboard the gulet or sailing boat in Portisco where you can enjoy your last night out on the town.

End of journey. Around 9am, you will disembark the boat charter. If you have some free time before your flight, you can take a taxi to Porto Cervo, only half an hour away. As you may imagine, shopping in Porto Cervo is not within everyone's reach but it's worth strolling through the centre enjoying the window displays and the typical houses of the Costa Smerelda with their balconies full of flowers.
