La Costa Brava está ubicada en la provincia de Gerona, a 146 kilómetros de la ciudad de Barcelona, por lo que el aeropuerto de Girona es el más cercano. No obstante, se puede coger un avión hasta Barcelona y seguidamente un tren o un coche, ya que toda la costa se encuentra bien comunicada.
En la Costa Brava el clima es templado. El verano es cálido y soleado, y los inviernos son suaves. Además, son muy frecuentes los vientos del noroeste, del norte y del nordeste. En especial esta franja costera está en el recorrido de la tramontana, un viento frío del norte que aprovecha los Pirineos para intensificarse e internarse en el Mediterráneo.
En la Costa Brava existen un total de 22 puertos deportivos. Entre ellos, los más destacados por su capacidad y ubicación son: Marina Port d'Aro, Puerto de Palamós, Club Nàutic L'Estartit, Marina d'Empuriabrava o el Club Náutico L'Escala.
